Qualtest’s strength is in our people, their collective experience, skill, and specialist knowledge of local conditions, local materials and the needs of local clients throughout both the public and private sector.

We have an experienced workforce of over 20 skilled and motivated people based out of our Newcastle laboratory at Warabrook, who consistently deliver projects that meet our client’s time, cost, safety and quality parameters. Qualtest’s history of strong performance and delivery of quality geotechnical engineering and testing services is built upon cultivating positive relationships with clients and working with them to develop cost-effective strategies and optimising solutions.

KEY PERSONNEL

Jason Lee – Director / Principal Geotechnical Engineer
Jason has over 27 years’ experience in geotechnical investigation, analysis, design, leadership and management.  His areas of expertise include business management, the organisation and management of complex and multi-faceted geotechnical investigation projects, and the integration of geotechnical issues and opportunities in design. Jason is responsible for the leadership and management of the business, maintaining technical standards, the successful delivery of project work, and ensuring safe work practices for all employees.

Alan Cullen – Laboratory Manager / Principal Geotechnician
Alan has over 39 years’ experience in the construction materials testing industry throughout Newcastle, the Hunter Valley and Regional NSW. He is widely known and respected for his knowledge of construction materials, earthworks methodology, materials management, laboratory testing, construction supervision and optimisation of earthworks design. Alan is responsible for the leadership of the laboratory business, maintaining technical and quality standards across the business, and the training, mentoring and development of staff.

Glen Richardson – Operations & Quality Manager / Senior Geotechnician
Glen has over 16 years’ experience in the construction materials testing industry throughout Newcastle, the Hunter Valley and Regional NSW. He has extensive experience in bulk earthworks testing, material quality testing, concrete testing and a wide range of laboratory testing. Glen is responsible for the development, maintenance and implementation of Qualtest’s Quality Management Systems and compliance for NATA Accreditation.

Dane Cullen – Quarries Manager / Senior Geotechnician
Dane has over 12 years’ experience in the construction materials testing industry. He has extensive experience in quarry production, earthworks testing, material quality testing, concrete testing and a wide range of laboratory testing. Dane is responsible for all aspects of quarry material testing and operations, including quality assurance, material specifications and compliance, technical advice to clients, and the training and mentoring of staff.

Shannon Kelly – Geotech Team Leader / Senior Geotechnical Engineer
Shannon has over 16 years’ experience in geotechnical investigation, analysis, design and project management. He has particular expertise in railway infrastructure projects, as well as wider experience across residential, commercial, industrial, mining, port facilities and infrastructure projects. Shannon is responsible for managing and conducting site investigation works, coordinating laboratory testing, undertaking data analysis and geotechnical reporting.

Libby Betz – Senior Environmental Scientist
Libby has 12 years’ experience in environmental site investigation and remediation. Libby has expertise in the investigation of contaminated land and groundwater, and acid sulfate soils, and has conducted environmental site assessments, carried out resource recovery exemption assessments, including site specific exemptions, developed and implemented remedial action plans and management plans, and completed site validations following site remediation. Libby is responsible for preparing proposals for clients, managing and conducting fieldwork and site inspections, coordinating laboratory testing, undertaking data analysis, reporting writing and management of environmental projects.

Emma Coleman – Senior Environmental Scientist
Emma has over 16 years’ experience in environmental site investigation and remediation. Emma has expertise in the investigation of contaminated land and groundwater, and acid sulfate soils, and has conducted environmental site assessments, carried out resource recovery exemption assessments, including site specific exemptions, developed and implemented remedial action plans and management plans, and completed site validations following site remediation. Emma project manages site investigations and remediations, including coordination of contractors, field staff, and liaison with NATA analytical laboratories in accordance with industry guidelines.
